NCAM Thursday Evening Speaker Series – Beaded Ornament Making with Danielle Antoine
Event Schedule
Event Details
Create a beaded ornament with Danielle Antoine.
She is Algonquin Anishinaabe kwe and a member of the 817 General List. She began beading as a way to reconnect with her culture, and it has since become an important part of how she honours her ancestors and express herself through art.
She is a self-taught artist who primarily creates beaded pieces, while also enjoying the process of making moccasins. For her, beading has become much more than creating something beautiful. It has given her a way to slow down, be present, and deepen her relationship with herself, her culture, and her spirit.
Beadwork has supported her through her sobriety and has helped her find moments of peace during times of grief. Sitting down to bead allows her to quiet her mind, be present in the moment, and reconnect with herself. It has become an important part of her healing, growth, and continued learning.
As an artist and teacher, she is honoured to share what she has learned with others. She hopes to create a welcoming space where participants can learn, explore their creativity, and experience the patience and intention that comes with the beading process.
